Hi all,
Does anyone have a Linksys PAP2 that's correctly configured and connected to freespeech.ie that they could give me some of the advanced settings from. In particular, I'm lost by the advanced view of "Regional".

My device says it's on-line, and shows the last caller number to be the number I try calling it from, but I've no dial tone and connected phones don't ring when the line is phoned.

I'm sure it's a configuration issue, so if anyone has the time and interest to post proper settings for the Regional page and all others, or url's for screenshots I would be most grateful. The device is a NA type BTW, and unlocked.

Thanks,
D

me again. That philips phone is rubbish. It won't work on vista. So i'm bringin it back to the shop. Problem with the driver. Have tried everything and I give up. Several other people seem to have the same or similar problems according to the skype forum...
So in order to use skype and freespeech with a phone compatible with vista I was going to buy this one:
http://accessories.skype.com:80/item?SID=35df9737659cb2e7e494b2bbd35e026c959:4540&sku=3045PHPROMO

Does it look ok?
Also, I have ripwave from Irish Broadband, so I already submitted a ticket and got a very useful answer about what equipment I need.
: a router with built in VOIP capability
and the ticket suggested this one:
http://www.digidave.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=40&products_id=326&osCsid=bea23fa203bdb3590633b2d702bfc070

So do you think that the dual phone i'm lookin at would work ok with ripwave and that TA at digidaves...??

The Nokia E60 supports WiFi and has a SIP client. This is my setup for freespeech.ie.

I'm not claiming to be an expert or anything, but this has worked for me.

Go into "Settings", then "Connection" and then "SIP Settings"

* SIP Settings

Profile Name: Free Speech
Service Profile: IETF
Default Access Point: (the name of your WiFi Connection)

In the "Internet Telephone" settings...

I created a new one called "Free Speech" which points to the "Free Speech" SIP profile.

Going into "SIP Settings", the profile should show "Not registered".

At the top of the display, just to the right of the battery symbol, you should see a Square symbol up of 4 tiny squares. These will be solid when the WiFi is connected correctly. They will be boxes if the WiFi is enabled, but not connected.

When registered with freespeech.ie, you'll see a small handset/globe symbol above the WiFi symbol.

For my WiFi settings...

Connection name: Home
Data bearer: Wireless LAN
Network Name: (the SSID of your WiFi LAN)
Network status: Public
WLAN Netw mode: Infrastructure
WLAN Security Mode: Open Network

You will also need to change the "Default Call Type" to "Internet". This is in the "call settings" menu.

Best of luck...

freespeech Esat / zoom V3

This is how I have mine setup - see attached.

Zoom V3 is nice because you get you regular phone and your VOIP line on the same phone, just press # to switch.
I have EsatBT 3MB connection and never have problems with call quality.

Downsides
- It works well, although the zoom V3 seems to loose it's registration sometimes when there is an IP address change, I should - perhaps once every two weeks.
- It would be nice if the zoom could support multiple SIP accounts ;) - I guess I couls always stick an IP phone onto it.

I have another DECT phone elsewhere in the house connected wirelessly back to the DECT base station, which is wired directly to the ATA.
