Net1 provide wireless broadband to the NE (Louth/Meath/Cavan/etc), and provide a great service to those of us who Eircom can't be bothered supporting because we happen to live outside a town. I've decided not to pay the Eircom tax any more, and now have Freespeech working fine on my network. Another couple of ATA's and I'll be Eircom-free (hurrah!).

> 1) Has anybody successfully used freespeech on the 3 mobile broadband package?
We (freespeech) have not tested it. If you fail to reach the sip server using the x-lite port 5060 is probably being blocked by 3. Many of the terms and conditions of the 'mobile' broadband try to prevent the use of VOIP for obvious reasons.

2) 3 use a UK based ISP, with UK based geographic IP addresses. Does freespeech deliberately prevent users from using the service from (what appears to be) the UK?
No, we do not block SIP traffic based on geographic IP location.

Freespeech on 3 mobile broadband (IRL)

As you may have noticed, there has been a lot of activity in what is being termed "mobile broadband". This is effectively a high speed dial up service provided by the mobile phone companies. I personally am using 3, but have not been able to connect to the freespeech sip server. I have a freespeech account and I'm using the X-lite software provided on freespeech website. Every time I try to connect, I get an error like "no response from server".

So there a couple of questions I would like to ask the users and administrators of freespeech:
1) Has anybody successfully used freespeech on the 3 mobile broadband package?
2) 3 use a UK based ISP, with UK based geographic IP addresses. Does freespeech deliberately prevent users from using the service from (what appears to be) the UK?

Thanks for your time.

Westnet.ie provide a very good wireless broadband service for some parts of county mayo. I live around Westport. The only problem is freespeech don't provide local numbers for this area yet.
I've been using westnet and freespeech without any trouble for the past 2 weeks. Call quality is very good.
