Everynow and then I're reminded how petty and small minded we can be in this country. I've been trying to get a few settings for the FXS and FXO ports on my Grandstream ATA. I get a local echo when I make calls that pass-through the device to PSTN and sometimes it drops the line when I receive an PSTN call.
Not unreasonable then to give your telco a call and ask for a few network settings. OnHook voltage, FSX impedance, caller ID scheme ... that's it really. Well Smarttelecom could have written the book on avoidance. In the end, after internal consultation they decided that they would not tell me, and that it was a matter of policy. The procedure apparently is to report a fault, they will send out and engineer (an Eircom engineer mind you!) and bill me for the priveledge. This comes on top of them promising me broadband for almost 18 months now. I'm not sure whether to take a case against them for false advertising or just go back to Eircom! Anyone any thoughts.. or better still anyone know the settings I need? David
This is setting for UK on Sipura (helps ?)
FXS Port Impedance: 370+620||310nF Caller ID Method: ETSI FSK With PR(UK)
Thanks, just tried these settings but unfortunately they make no difference to the echo. Left them in tho to see if they affect Caller ID and dropped calls.
We have these ATAs in UK and France where they work fine. But then again technical information seems to be less "jealously" guarded! :-) D
hmm...I remember some time ago I got a laptop and modem was for use in Spain or Ireland..perhaps Spanish settings are same ?
Si habla Espanol
Was it a Dell ? I occasionally buy refubished Dells originally destined for Spain... mi hogar en paga vasco está a apenas 20 kilómetros de la frontera... estaré allí la semana próxima... encontraré quizá a ingeniero vasco amistoso. :-) D Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
