Any advice

Hello everyone,

I have a 1mb supply from Bt. I have one zyxel prestige 600 modem? with only one outlet port which i have going to a netgear TA612vsp, and a cable from there to my computer. I use the netgear for a blue face supplied voip.( all works ok)

Now I have discovered freespeech.ie and am wondering what i need to get this to work as well as blue face. I have already tested freespeech.ie on a softphone and it seems good.

As I have only one outlet port in my bt supplied modem i suspect i need to get a modem with at least two outlet ports, I have seen one with 4 outlets, is this ok to use or does the signal be divided up too much? in addition i hope to get another netgear TA612vsp for freespeech account, can this be configured ok for freespeech? Then i plan to use an ordinary phone on the output of the ata.

Does this sound ok?

Would both systems work ok on the same line?

Thanks for your help
seamus

The 1st advise is to get a modem/router which supports SIP and QoS.

The best available are the 2WIRE Home Portal 2700HG Wireless ADSL. These have a built in SIP ALG (Application Level Gateway). There are supplied with BT business pack so you know they are good. Available from digidave - [www.digidave.co.uk]

Once you have that installed you can decide if you want a separate phone for your freespeech and blueface.

If you want a separate phone you can buy another ATA.
If you'd like to combine them on a single phone then get an IP phone which supports multiple accounts, you can switch account by hitting a 'line' button. For example 'line1' freespeech, 'line2' blueface.

Many of these phones are available the most popular from Grandstream, Linksys/Sipura, Aastraa and polycomm.

Note:Make sure you get a phone which supports 'multiple accounts', 'multiple line appearances' is not the same thing, this allows many simultaneous calls on a single account.

Hi,

You could get an additional router that you'll connect to the modem, see the neighbor thread (http://forum.freespeech.ie/read/17/235) how I configured my router and modem. I have BT internet as well.

For multiple accounts I bought an Siemens Gigaset S 450 IP, it has lan and pstn ports, you can register it with up till 5 SIP providers and get calls from those 5 accounts, however you can call through one of them this is configurable through the web interface. As well you can regiter about 5 additional handsets with the base station and assign to them a specific number, this way calls from different accounts will go to a specific handset, you can make 3 simultaneous calls this way one through pstn line and 2 through internet.

I got the handset from [www.technikdirekt.de]
You can see the specs on [gigaset.siemens.com]
