I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions. Thanks.
If I have a Freespeech number of the type 076 6xx xxxx and use it for some time. What is the situation if at some future date Freespeech should no longer exist or decides to get out of the business? What I mean is, what happens to the number and also the connectivity to it. Has the Com. Reg. made some arrangements to allow for this situation? I expect that to be the case as these numbers are 'official' numbers, I just have not been able to find that information. If I have registered for a free number from Freespeech, how long before it is taken back again for the 'pool' of numbers, if I have not used it? Is the treatment of numbers with some credit against them, for making outgoing calls, any different? All of these of course bring me to this If a business gets a number or two from Freespeech and advertises its numbers for customers to connect to it, does it have any security or guarantee that those numbers will remain with the business, regardless of what might happen to Freespeech or anyone else concerned with the service? Last question for some time, I promise ...... A lot of other providers have arrangements made with each other to make it simple to call users of other services using numbers only - putting some prefix in front of the number or such. I notice that Freespeech has such an arrangement (I think) with Blueface. Is there any intention of making such arrangements with other providers on a worldwide basis? I lied I have one more
Is the fact that a VOIP number is accessible from a landline/mobile, for the price of a local call, unique to Ireland? I have not seen this incoming call to VOIP numbers mentioned elsewhere. Did I just miss it? Thank you for your attention. Regards, JohnBoy

The UK for example does have a dedicated VOIP number series but it is not widely used, VOIP providers tend to offer other non-geographic numbers. > Thank you for your attention. > > Regards, > > JohnBoy
Quote: I see that freespeech UK operates a similar service, and issues numbers in the order of 0844 XXXXXXXXX Can these numbers be dialled from my 076 Irish number issued by Freespeech.ie, over VOIP, for free?
yes, as long as the number is a freespeech number - dial direct 0844.. from freespeech.ie. There is no charge as it's VOIP to VOIP.
Quote: How will I know who issues the 0844 number? It may be a number that is written on letterhead or whatever. Surely as it is an official VOIP number I will be able to phone it regardless of the provider through who it was issued? This also raises the question - can I call any/all 076 Irish VOIP numbers for free, regardless of through who they are issued? I had understood that because these numbers are 'official' they could be accessed from any other 076 VOIP number for free? I seem to be getting a bit mixed up, so maybe you could help iut by pointing me to some reading which clearly explains the situation. Thanks. JohnBoy
