As you may have noticed, there has been a lot of activity in what is being termed "mobile broadband". This is effectively a high speed dial up service provided by the mobile phone companies. I personally am using 3, but have not been able to connect to the freespeech sip server. I have a freespeech account and I'm using the X-lite software provided on freespeech website. Every time I try to connect, I get an error like "no response from server".
So there a couple of questions I would like to ask the users and administrators of freespeech: 1) Has anybody successfully used freespeech on the 3 mobile broadband package? 2) 3 use a UK based ISP, with UK based geographic IP addresses. Does freespeech deliberately prevent users from using the service from (what appears to be) the UK? Thanks for your time.

We (freespeech) have not tested it. If you fail to reach the sip server using the x-lite port 5060 is probably being blocked by 3. Many of the terms and conditions of the 'mobile' broadband try to prevent the use of VOIP for obvious reasons. 2) 3 use a UK based ISP, with UK based geographic IP addresses. Does freespeech deliberately prevent users from using the service from (what appears to be) the UK? No, we do not block SIP traffic based on geographic IP location.
Thanks for the blindingly fast and accurate response!
3 appear to blocking all traffic on ports other than 80, 21 etc. Not sure of the full extent yet. Bottom line is users of 3 cannot use freespeech until 3 resolve this problem. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
